Steve Grimwood

I started out in the trade whilst still at School taking up a work experience position at the local Bike Shop and from that point on I knew that Bicycles were in my blood. I have fixed, sold and repaired thousands of bikes since. I started work at Elmy Cycles in the late 80's working for Mr Elmy and it's here I learnt many lifelong skills, including the most important one of all, of putting your customer first. I have Raced and ridden all types of Bike and have even Ridden from Lands End to John O'Groats. I have worked with Olympic Athletes and organised international events. My passion for Cycling is as strong today as it was when I started and whatever you need I'd love to help.

Joanne Newstead

I started out in cycling when my 2 young boys joined the local cycling club and started racing. Their first event was an under 12's beginners race at an International Cyclo Cross that Steve organised, right here behind the shop. From that day I progressed from a supportive mum to having a go myself and as soon as I tried it I was hooked. I progressed through the sport from a beginner right up to becoming a Medalist in the European World Masters Championships held in Holland. I have used this experience to help all my customers find what's right for them, whatever stage they are at, from Beginner to Expert. As an experienced Female Cyclist I particularly like helping other Women find the perfect Bike and can help you with Bike and Saddle Fits and ensuring your Bike is as confortable as it can be.

Established in 1922 Elmy Cycles truly is one of the UK's oldest and most respected independent Cycle Shops. When a Business has been going for 100 Years it has to be doing something right, and although many things have changed since the day we started the one thing that hasn't is our commitment to our Customers and our dedication to expertise. We focus on ensuring we have the latest training for all of our staff, the best tools for the job and the best products in store. From new Bikes to Repairs the internet is full of advice from people who will tell you what is best for them, but our experience and our attitude to listen to our customers ensures that we will help you can find the right products for you. We help you to find what is best for your needs without you having to be an expert. Our whole ethos is to help our customers, After all, you don't come in to hear about us, you come to us so we can learn about you.

Our Expert Workshop team can handle anything from changing an Inner Tube on a Childs bike to full Custom Bike Build. With our experienced technicians you can't be in better or safer hands. We have experience in the very highest levels of equipment from Shimano, Sram and Campagnolo and have full diagnostic equipment for Electronic Gear Systems and Motor Diagnostics for E Bikes.

Some shops are focused entirely on one type of Cycling or one particular Brand, they can also feel a bit elitist or unapproachable, We never want you to feel like that here. There is no such thing as a silly question, try us out. We don't hide behind a corporate logo, we are real people and you can get to know us individually – Don't be afraid to ask for us by name, most of our customers have been visiting us for years & don't be surprised if you get asked if you would like a tea or coffee. At Elmy Cycles we are truly independent, we get to chose from many different Suppliers and many different brands, we are also happy to order things if we don't have them in store. Our expertise extends to all types of Cycling From Road Bikes to Mountain Bikes, Family Bikes or Adventure Bikes we have it covered. There is almost nothing we can't handle in store and on the rare occasion we can't we have a wide network of specialists we can call on with anything from Frame repairs to full resprays and suspension work. If we don't do it we will know someone who does.
